Jarman strikes gold at Welsh Championships

City gymnast Jake Jarman struck gold in his first event of the season at the weekend.

The 14 year-old Deepings School student claimed the Under 16 open title at the Welsh Championships with a total score of 75.466 - a score which was actually higher than the winner of the men’s senior event!

He finished top in two disciplines - the pommel horse and rings - and was third in three more.

His individual marks and positions were: Floor 3rd 12.90; Pommel Horse 1st 13.350; Rings 1st 12.566; Vault 5th 12.450; Parallel Bars 3rd 12.40; High Bar 3rd 11.80.

Next up for Jarman, a member of the Huntingdon Olympic Gymnastics Club, is the English Championships in Loughborough on March 20 followed by the British Championships held in Liverpool during April.
