Jacob rises to the challenge on British Junior Golf Tour

Peterborough Milton youngster Jacob Williams made the perfect start to the season by claiming the gross plaudits in the Challenge Division in the British Junior Golf Tour event at Cambridge Meridian Golf Club on Sunday.

Competing in the Super Six Series for the first time, the 12-year-old from Market Deeping fired 10 gross pars, including seven on the inward stretch, during a superb round of 82 to finish four clear of Jake Plumb (Bourn).

Northampton’s Leah Ribano carded a couple of gross birdies on her way to finishing third in the gross scoring, while Milton’s Harry Smith finished just one shot and one place outside the prizes in the net category with a net 70.

Marshall’s superb win at Cambridge came hot on the heels of a blistering round in the Milton March Medal competition.

He won Division Three with a score of 82-14=68.

Division One winner Pete Thompson, playing off eight, also returned a net 68.
