It's another super silver for PACTRACveteran Georgina

The sprightly 71 year-old was competing for Great Britain in the World Championships in Cozumel and for the second year running she finished runner-up in the 70-74 age group.

Twelve months ago Jennings finished eight minutes behind Paula Larsen in Chicago. At the weekend she once again had to play second fiddle to the fleet-footed American, this time finishing five minutes adrift.

She clocked 01:39:12 for the sprint distance of a 750m swim, 12.5 mile bike ride and three mile run with Larsen finishing in 01:34:24.

Bronze medallist Julie Boshier of New Zealand recorded 01:49:47.

Jennings was a minute down after the swim, and although she had the fastest bike leg, it wasn’t enough to hold off the challenge from the top American athlete on the run.

The silver medal crowned another fantastic year for Jennings who retained her British title in May and her European title in Lisbon in June.

In 2015 she was voted British Triathlon Federation Female Age Group Triathlete of the Year.

Four other PACTRAC members were competing for GB in Mexico.

Simon Hoppe (46) was competing in his 15th World Championships and came 11th in his age group in the sprint event in 63:31. He finished only 2:18 off a podium spot.

Susie Freeman, making her GB debut, also did the sprint distance and was 16th in her age group in 73:29.

The other two PACTRAC members representing GB tackled the standard distance over a 1500m swim, 25 mile bike ride and 6.25 mile run.

GB debutant Simon Pauffley was 35th in his age group in 2:38:23 while Abi Schofield was 43rd in 2:41:02

Schofield said after the race: “Today was amazing but incredibly tough.”

n Another PACTRACER in action abroad was Dave Patmore-Hill, who competed in the Ironman 70.3 in Pula, Croatia.

That was over a really tough course consisting of a 1.2 mile swim, 57 mile bike ride and 13.1 mile run and he finished in 4:59:24 for 119th place overall and 21st in his age group.

He said: “That was pretty scary. The swim was terrible with tough sea conditions. We had thunder and lightning on

the bike with a deluge of rain and the run course was part river after the torrential rain.

“But it was great fun. It was one of the hardest races I’ve done but also one of the most enjoyable.”

n Steve Hope (PACTRAC) ran the Belfast Half-marathon in 1:40:09.

He competes in the Basel Marathon this weekend to make it four races in four weekends abroad.

n From 255 entries, PACTRAC’s James Steventon finished 19th in the Equinox 24-hour Solo Run at Belvoir Castle, near Grantham. He completed 16 laps.

n Amy Hayes (PACTRAC) swam the Oxford Lock to Lock 10k swim in 3:22:45.

n In the Rutland Water Half-Marathon Nick Park (PACTRAC) was 65th in 1:50:32.
