Popular forward Alan Lack has paid tribute to the Phantoms fans after committing his immediate future to the club.
Lack has become a huge favourite during his debut season at Planet Ice, but work and family commitments have threatened to cut short his stay in the city.
However, after gunning down Blackburn Hawks last Sunday with a four-goal English Challenge Cup scoring spree, the 22 year-old confirmed he is now staying put.
Lack, whose name was chanted by the Phantoms faithful as he collected his man-of-the-match award, said: “It is always great to have support like that and it shows the hard work I’m putting into my game is paying off.
“The fans here are brilliant. They get behind us all day in and day out and it is great to play in front of them.
“Everyone knows there have been a few rumours about my future and it is no secret that I have commitments away from hockey.
“But we are in the process of sorting things out so it looks like I’ll be staying in a Phantoms shirt for the rest of the season.”
Lack almost doubled his season goal tally last Sunday.
He has now struck nine times for the city club.
