Two Peterborough Phantoms imports helped to deny Great Britain World Championship glory yesterday (April 19).
Darius Pliskauskas and Donatas Kumeliauskas were part of the Lithuanian side that pipped the Brits 3-2 in the final match of the Division One Group B competition in Eindhoven, Holland.
Kumeliauskas contributed an assist on his country’s second goal before being thrown out in the closing stages following a head-butting offence.
It was GB’s first defeat of the week-long event and meant they had to settle for silver medals after being pipped to top spot by Korea.
Lithuania, for whom Pliskauskas had scored twice in previous games, took bronze after finishing two points behind the Brits in third.
Korea 5 12
Great Britain 5 11
Lithuania 5 9
Croatia 5 7
Estonia 5 3
Holland 5 3
