Hot rod Howson a Horseshoe winner

Hotpoint AC were back on one of their favourite lakes on Sunday fishing the Horseshoe Pool.

Unfortunately the high winds made it impossible to fish a pole at any distance on quite a few of the pegs yet those on the lower numbers sat in tee shirts all day with a gentle back wind.

Topping the field with 115lb 6oz was Pete Howson on peg two. After a slow start he came into the margins and in the last couple of hours had a carp just about every put-in.

Runner-up from peg 10 was Pete Sanderson. He stuck to a small Method feeder approach all day to finish just short on 111lb 3oz.

I managed 79lb 14oz from windy peg 18, most taken on the feeder to end up third.

DEEPING ST JAMES

Deeping St James AC fished their yearly awayday match at Westwood Lakes just outside Boston on Sunday fishing the Osprey for the Awayday Cup.

Matchwinner was Jon Bowland drawn on peg seven. He fished the whole day on the short pole line up in the water for a winning weight of 98lb 2oz.

A close second was Alan Jopling with 96lb 7oz from peg three, followed by Ray Torrington on peg six with 87lb.
