Hornsby leaps onto the podium

Nene Valley Harrier Emma Hornsby made the podium at the big British Universities Championships in Bedford over the Bank Holiday weekend.

The first year student at Loughborough University claimed the bronze medal in the long jump with a personal best leap of 5.60m.

Hornsby was joined in making the finals on day two of competition by clubmate Emily Maltby.

She was competing for Bedfordshire University in the triple jump and placed 10th in the final with a leap of 11.06m.

Peterborough Athletic Club’s Simi Pam was sixth in the shot with 12.57m throwing for Cardiff Met.

Sean Garmory (NVH & Newcastle University) was fifth in his 400m heat in 53.65 while Ellie Mae Stokes (NVH & Gloucester University) threw 32.85m in the javelin qualifying.
