City of Peterborough powered into the last 16 of the English Hockey Mixed Trophy with an 11-0 win over Harborne at Bretton Gate yesterday (March 12).
City were expecting a tough game against the team from Birmingham, but they took full advantage of weaker than expected opposition with Jordan Heald and Anna Faux both claining hat-tricks.
Faux opened the scoring early in the first half, touching home at the far post at the second attempt. Joe Finding soon doubled the lead with a reverse stick shot through the keeper’s legs. Heald soon added another after a sublime touch by Brendan ‘ Andrews created the chance.
Andrews added a goal of his own soon after before a fifth came before half time from Ross Ambler.
The pattern of the game continued in the second half. Heald added his second of the game. Not to be outdone Faux also grabbed herself a second. Holly Finding then bagged herself a goal, turning the ball in at the far post.
Heald completed his hat trick nudging the ball home at the far post after a lovely pass from Ambler. Again Faux wasn’t to be outdone, tucking the ball under the advancing keeper and into the goal for her hat-trick.
The scoring was finished off with a delightful deflection home by Nathan Foad after a good ball in by David Fisher.
Ellie Bolsover was named City’s player-of-the-match.
