City of Peterborough Ladies lost for the first time in nine East Division One North matches yesterday (December 5).
City, who started the game with a cahnce of reaching top spot before the mid-season break, were 3-0 down early in the second-half at Norwich Dragons, but rallied with goals from Robyn Gribble and Anna Faux before accepting a 3-2 defeat.
Norwich Dragons opened the scoring early on in the first half and after considerable pressure, that saw the likes of Lisa Deacon and Lauren Finding defending well, Norwich scored their second to leave the half-time score at 2-0 to the home team.
Early in the second half, as the weather deteriorated, City, through Katy Lee, had the ball in the back of the net, after some strong running from Gribble, only for the goal to be disallowed for an earlier stick tackle.
Dragons, against the run of play, soonm scored again to make the score line 3-0
City then marshalled themselves and through some strong runs from midfield by Jess Amps, and clever link play between midfield and attack, Gribble pulled a goal back. Faux, then linked up with Tierney Augustine to score a second goal but it was too little too late.
