City of Peterborough Hockey Club’s men’s first team are through to the last 16 of the English Hockey Cup.
The Bretton Gate boys were scheduled to meet Norwich City in the second round of the competition on Sunday (November 1) but the Norfolk club have conceded the tie because they’re unable to raise a team.
City manager Graham Finding said: “It’s disappointing, but on the plus side we’re now in the last 16 of a national competition.”
In-form City meanwhile will be seeking a third straight East Premier A Division win on the bounce when they entertain Cambridge City seconds tomorrow (October 31). The game starts at 1pm.
Finding added: “Cambridge City’s first XI are riding high at National League level after recruiting heavily in the close season.
“That’s had a knock-on effect down the club and their second team are the only team to beat East League leaders St Albans and third-placed Old Loughtonians this season.
“We will therefore have to be at our absolute best to secure a third straight win.”
