City of Peterborough are in good shape as they head towards the start of the East Premier A Division season on September 19,

The city side competed in the high-class PLUM tournament last weekend - an event organised and hosted by Premier League Umpires - and were described as ‘a class act’ by one of their victims.

York were the team dishing out the praise after a 3-0 defeat at the hands of City. Ross Ambler, Will Astbury and Joe Finding were the scorers in that game at the Olympic Park in Lea Valley, although James Fisher bagged the man-of-the-match prize.

City also drew 3-3 at Lea Valley with Rugby & East Warwicks who fielded a much stronger team than the one drubbed 8-3 at Bretton Gate the previous week.

Adam Wilson scored two short corner goals in this game with Paul Hillsdon completing the City scoring from the penalty spot. Ben Read was man-of the match the match in this game.

The following day City beat Scottish side Watsonians 4-1 and lost 3-2 to Oxford Hawks in matches played at Old Loughtonians.

Read, Astbury, Hillsdon and Wilson scored during an outstanding display against Watsonians. Neil Evans was man of the match.

Wilson and Nathan Foad netted against Oxford with Finding named man-of-the-match.

City finish their pre-season programme at Northampton Saints this weekend.
