City are now third in the table, but just two points behind leaders Saffron Walden who also have a game in hand. City are next in action against the leaders at Bretton Gate on February 27.

And again it was Robyn Gribble who led the way for City as she followed a five-goal haul the previous weekend with a second-half hat-trick in Hitchin.

But an individual effort early in the second-half from Gribble gave City a lead they always looked likely to extend. Gribble added a second goal after a fine team move before Anna Faux made it 3-0. Gribble claimed her eighth goal in the last two matches to compete her hat-trick in the dying moments,

Chelsea Oldham also thought she had scored with a rasping shot, but the umpire ruled she had had taken her shot from outside the ‘d’.
