HOCKEY: City of Peterborough's top performers are rewarded

Alex Armstrong, Ben Read and Anna Faux collected the main first XI awards at the City of Peterborough Hockey Club presentation night.

Armstrong picked up the men’s first XI player-of-the year prize, Read won the overall men’s section player-of-the-year while Faux was voted the overall senior ladies’ player-of-the-year.

Kate Dixon and Robyn Gribble also won Ladies first XI awards.

Junior players-of-the-year were Peter Taylor and Tierney Augustine.

City gave out 40 awards with men’s first XI manager Graham Finding winning the clubman of the year prize.

City of Peterborough have reached the quarter-final of the National Mixed Plate competition after scheduled last-16 opponents Sunderland conceded.

City will host Sutton Coldfield or Prescott in the quarter-finals on May 15. Those teams do battle tomorrow (May 1).

City lost in the first round of the National Mixed Cup to Wisbech.
