Great Scott scorches toanother win on the road
Aaron Scott and Philippa Taylor continued their dominance of the region's running scene, with impressive victories in Friday's Summer Solstice 10 k at Long Bennington near Grantham, writes Barry Warne.
The pair of Stamford-based speedsters were in impressive form, with Scott leading the way from the off, to post his third 10k win of the year in a time of 31.32.
Taylor ran a slightly more circumspect race due to a long standing achilles problem, but the Nene Valley Harrier was untroubled throughout and her time of 37.50 gave her a winning margin of over a minute.
A good-sized local contingent travelled north for the race and there were a number of other notable performances. Yaxley’s James Mogridge finished fifth in a time of 33.31 with Ben Heron of Eye Runners close behind in sixth.
Nene Valley’s Jake Richardson ran well coming home 13th while Thorney Runner Kirk Brawn was 23rd.
Werrington Joggers were out in force, and Martin Stevens was first home in 46th position with a 39.04 clocking. James Curt, Billy Slaven and Phil Hamlyn also dipped below 40 minutes as did Nene Valley’s Jay Belham who finished 72nd.
March AC veteran Melissa Neal was fourth lady, running a useful time of 40.09 while Catherine Threadgold of Eye was first Peterborough lady home in a personal best time of 44.59.
