Women's FA Cup wins for Peterborough United and Northern Star
Posh moved into the second qualifying round of the SSE Women’s FA Cup with a convincing 2-1 win over St Ives Town Ladies.
In a first half dominated by Posh, it was new signing Hannah Pendred who opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a shot from close range that the opposition goalkeeper had no chance of saving.

Hide AdPosh dominated possession in midfield with some great passing movements led by new signings Donna McGuigan and Stacey McConville, ably supported by Jenna Lusk.
Despite their probing and pressing it wasn’t until the 35th minute that the ball was played to striker Kier Perkins who coolly chipped the oncoming goalkeeper to make it 2-0.
In the second half the Posh struggled to maintain the high intensity of the first half and conceded a goal after a mistake by the defence to make it 2-1.
St Ives sought to push forward and search for the equalising goal but the Posh defence held firm until the final whistle.
All in all it was a job well done for the Posh Ladies.
