We're up against '˜an excellent side' warns Peterborough United manager

Peterborough United manager Steve Evans described tomorrow's opponents Plymouth Argyle as '˜an excellent side' before boarding the bus this morning (August 24) for the long trip to the West Country.

“They are blessed with so much talent,” he said. “They were so unfortunate not to make the play-offs last season. They will be backed by a big home crowd and they have a lot of good people, including their manager Derek Adams, working for the club.

“He is an excellent manager - he’s passionate and fights for every decision - and he has an excellent team. They also have a great bunch of supporters.

“They’re lovely people down there but tomorrow they’ll be part of that Green Army chanting against us and against me. They’ll make it very difficult for us.”

Posh had sold over 130 tickets in advance for the game and Evans added: “To the Posh fans that are making the journey, make sure you have a safe one there and back, it is a long way. We will do all we can to fight for the cause.”

Plymouth manager Adams said: “We are going to have to be at our best to stop them. They have performed very well this season. They have recruited well over the summer. They have used the money they got for Jack Marriott to do that and they have been very successful.”
