Junior Alliance League officials issued a stern warning about on and off field behaviour last week, but reports have emerged of a young referee in tears at an under 14 game yesterday after removing a spectator who had been questioning his decisions.

The teams involved in this match were not named.

League secretary Hazel Burgess said: “The sad thing is this is a very good young referee who is progressing and showing potential to move up the ladder. The league and mentors are working hard to help all of these young referees, it breaks my heart.”
