TRANSFER UPDATE: Chairman urges patience from Posh fans

Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has urged patience from the club's supporters with regard to new player signings.

Posh have been heavily linked with out-of-contract Mansfield central defender Ryan Tafazolli as well as un-named young strikers from higher divisions. Posh have also tried to bring back Callum Elder and Martin Samuelsen on loan from Leicester and West Ham respectively. Samuelsen made his full Norway debut at the age of 19 last week.

No new Posh signings since the arrival of right-back Hayden White from Bolton last month have been revealed, prompting alarm among the more impatient club fans.

But MacAnthony said on his Twitter account @DMAC102 last night (June 5): “Just for clarification for fans re signings this summer, we have had couple of years of under-achievement and part of this has been down to rushing a few signings and signing wrong characters without doing the proper work on them, and not just as players.

“We are not making the same mistakes again as the four or five we bring in have to be the right mentality, be strong winners and want to be with us for the right reasons. They must fit in with what we want to do.”

League One clubs have signed 21 new players (as at June 5) between them since the end of last season.

Posh are expected to reveal the identity of a new assistant manager imminently.
