They entertained Whitgift School from Croydon in Surrey in the Year 8 semi-final and were beaten 3-2 in a cracking match.

The city lads twice equalised with Kyall Woods making it 1-1 and Ricky Jade-Jones levelling it up at 2-2 but Whitgift took the honours with a winner two minutes from time.

678 teams enterered the competition and Nene Park came through nine rounds.
