Referee alleges threats towards his family at the end of the big match in the Peterborough Premier Division
Unbeaten leaders Moulton Harrox beat reigning champions Netherton United 3-1 at Broad Lane to maintain their seven-point lead at the top, but the city side were unhappy with the decision-making of referee James Truman and with his post-match claim on social media that ‘an idiot threatened my family.’
Truman’s post on Twitter, which has now been deleted, also touched on unnamed players and clubs ‘hating him.’ The post read; “Thanks for all the suppportive text and calls after a very good game today. But when some idiot threatened my family it’s personal. Certain clubs, players hate me and put in complaints because I have a backbone. Every decision I make is by the book.”

Hide AdTruman withdrew his tweet on advice from his county FA and declined to comment further when contacted by the Peterborough Telegraph. He didn’t name names in his deleted tweet and Netherton officials have so far declined to comment on the matter, but are known to be furious at what they perceive to be a serious slur.
The city side are known to be aggrieved at a penalty award for Harrox which led to a red card for midfielder Chris Down for words spoken to the referee. Mark Baines and Herbie Panting were also sinbinned during the game for dissent. Baines had earlier given Netherton the lead.
Declan Earth, Marcus Parry and Danny Maddison scored for Harrox who have won 11 out of 12 Premier Division games this season.
Netherton are down in fifth, four points behind second placed Thorney who won 4-1 at Ketton with Matthew Oliver scoring twice. Ondrea Odain and Tom Hutton also scored.
