PROMOTION ODDS: Bookies write Posh off for next season

Sky Bet have priced Posh at 14/1 joint eighth-favourites to win the League One title alongside Walsall and Coventry.

It’s the longest pre-season price available on Posh since they were relegated from the Championship at the end of the 2012-13 season and perhaps reflects the club’s dwindling reputation as a powerhouse at this level.

In the last three seasons Posh have finished sixth, ninth and 13th.

Sheffield United, who finished just two places and three points ahead of Posh last season, are favourites for the League One title at 6/1. The Blades will be managed by Chris Wilder next season, the man who took steered Northampton to a runaway League Two title win last season.

Northampton are 16/1 to win League One with Sky Bet, longer odds than Oxford United (12/1) who finished second in League Two last season.

Losing League One play-off semi-finalists Bradford City and Millwall and the three teams relegated from the Championship, Bolton, MK Dons and Charlton, are all more fancied than Posh to win promotion.

Posh, who are expected to reveal the identity of their new assistant manager to Grant McCann tomorrow (June 6), are 5/1 with Sky Bet to win promotion by any route next season.
