Peterborough United have today (January 29) parted company with full-back Scott Griffiths by mutual consent.

Griffiths (27) joined Posh on loan from Dagenham & Redbridge on the same day in October 2009 as Ryan Bennett moved to London Road from Grimsby.

Posh manager Darren Ferguson left Posh a fortnight later, but Griffiths was handed a permanent deal by new boss Mark Cooper the following January.

But Griffiths has started just 21 games for the club in three-and-a-half years and none since a 6-0 thrashing at Reading in April, 2010. He has spent time on loan at Chesterfield (twice), Crawley and Rotherham, but is now free to find another full-time club.

Ferguson today confirmed that he is interested in re-signing West Brom players George Thorne and Saido Berahino on loan, but probably not before this Saturday’s (February 2) Championship fixture with Burnley at London Road.
