Peterborough United manager Dave Robertson believes he is one new player away from a League One promotion-winning squad.
Robertson has signed former West Ham United midfielder Jack Collison and Irish striker Joe Gormley so far this summer and he claims that one more new face is all he is expecting before the start of the League One campaign on August 8.
That final player is believed to be the ‘exciting winger’ referenced by Posh director of football Barry Fry in an interview with the Peterborough Telegraph last week. He is now expected to arrive early next month.
“Three new players to add to what we have already is enough,” Robertson stated. “So that leaves one more to come and then I believe we will have a squad capable of challenging for League One.
“Jack Collison will give me experience and quality in midfield, while Joe Gormley is set to be a fans’ favourite as his work-rate in a game is phenenomenal and yet he scores lots of goals as well.”
Club officials had previously hinted at loan signings from a Premier League club, including another new striker.
Posh currently have seven players on the transfer list. There has been plenty of interest in the likes of Jack Payne, Shaun Brisley and Joe Newell, but as yet no deals have been struck.
