Peterborough United centre-back Christian Burgess is on the verge of a transfer to League Two side Portsmouth.
Posh director of football Barry Fry has confirmed an undisclosed fee has been agreed with Pompey and that Burgess has agreed personal terms.
The 23 year-old will sign once he passes a medical at Fratton Park early next week.
Pompey are splashing the cash after selling star midfielder Jed Wallace - a one-time Posh target - to Wolves.
Burgess played 33 games for Posh last season after moving from Middlesbrough in August, scoring four goals.
He was a regular under previous Posh boss Darren Ferguson, but immediately fell out of favour when Dave Robertson took over in February.
Burgess started just one game for Robertson, the 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Coventry City on March 28.
Burgess was one of seven Posh players transfer listed at the end of last season.
