Soulemayne Coulibaly has surely shot his way into the Posh starting line-up at Burton Albion on Saturday (August 22).
The 20-year-old’s superb goal in Tuesday’s 3-1 League One defeat at home to Sheffield United should lead to a full debut at the Pirelli Stadium.
The Ivory Coast Under 23 international certainly impressed first-team manager Dave Robertson with his strong showing as a second-half substitute against a powerful Blades outfit. Coulibaly is expected to replace misfiring forward Joe Gormley.
“I was delighted with Souleymane against Sheffield United,” Robertson stated. “He took his goal superbly, but it wasn’t just the fact that he scored that pleased me.
“His work-rate and his attitude were first class and he gets behind defences. His performance screamed at me to pick him and he has put himself into contention for the Burton game.”
Coulibaly added: “I was pleased to score my first goal for the club, but I could have had more. I am still not quite at 100% in terms of match fitness and sharpness so I need to get better. I will work as hard as I can to score goals and help the team win games.”
Posh have been drawn at home to Championship club Charlton in the second round of the Capital One Cup. The tie will take place next Tuesday (August 25).
Admission prices have been reduced for the game to £15 for adults.
