The Posh squad have pledged a promotion push next season to make up for a frustrating 2014/15 campaign.
Posh finished ninth following a 1-1 draw at Oldham on the final day of the campaign last weekend.
But full-back Michael Smith, one of the successes of the season, said: “It’s been an average season for us, but we are confident we will be in and around the top places next season.
“We’re already excited about next season. The squad is great for this division and we fancy our chances.
“We want to see joy on the faces of our fans as they are celebrating at the end of next season.”
Current manager Dave Robertson has spent two days negotiating a longer-term deal with chairman Darragh MacAnthony this week.
MacAnthony is however likely to take his time over the decision.
Rotherham manager Steve Evans was heavily linked with the job, but ruled himself out of the running last week.
Evans, who has a house in Wansford, told the Peterborough Telegraph this week: “It was the right club at the wrong time for me, but whoever gets the job will be one of the luckiest managers in the Football League because Posh have such a supportive chairman with a wonderful track record of delivering success.”
The League One fixtures for the 2015-16 season will be released on June 17.
