Peterborough United’s players again failed to impress tonight (August 25) as they slipped to a 4-1 home defeat at the hands of Charlton in the Capital One Cup.

Ben Alnwick: Horrible error set Charlton on their way to victory. He’s only under pressure for his place from a 17-year-old which could be a problem. Capped a terrible night by conceding a 40-yard goal 4

Ricardo Santos: Looked strong at times, but was also outpaced and outmanouevred often by a slick Charlton side. A tough night for the whole defence 5

Shaun Brisley: Played in the middle of a back three and was no worse than anyone else, but he was the one withdrawn at half-time 5

Alex Davey: He’s not looked comfortable in his brief Posh spell, possibly because he changes position virtually every game. Conceded a penalty after a slip and a rash challenge early in the second-half that killed the game 5

Jon Taylor: Started as a right wing-back and looked bright and busy, putting opponents under pressure with his pace and hassling ability. Faded late on after switching to the left 6

Kieran Sadlier: Made his Posh debut out of position. Steady, but not always accurate with his passing from the wing-back position 5

Jermaine Anderson: Worked hard as usual, but his passing was often astray. Kept going to the end and was rewarded by a last-gasp headed consolation goal 6

Jack Collison: He can look pretty in possession, but he’s not having the impact that the club had hoped for. Sponsors’ man-of-the-match 5

Marcus Maddison: Played behind the front two and tried hard hard to get involved at every opportunity. Always wanted the ball, but he couldn’t find the magical strike at goal for once. Poor set-piece delivery again 5

Conor Washington: A poor touch stopped a couple of promising attacks in the first-half. He’s struggling for form, doesn’t look like scoring, missed a decent chance towards the end 5

Souleymane Coulibaly: No influence on the game at all after firing a first-half chance wide of the goal from the edge of the area. Needs to learn the offside law 5

Michael Bostwick: (for Brisley, 46 mins): Never looked happy at centre-back. Cumbersome and slow 5

Harry Anderson: (for Sadlier, 68 mins).

Joe Gormley: (for Coulibaly, 80 mins).

Dion-Curtis Henry: (not used).

Kyle Vassell: (not used).

Tobi Adebayo-Rowling: (not used).

Lee Angol: (not used).
