Peterborough Panthers chief Carl Johnson is backing his riders to pass their first test of 2015 with flying colours.
The city racers take on a Great Britain Select side put together by national chief Alun Rossiter in a Challenge clash at the East of England Showground tomorrow (March 15, 2pm).
And Johnson insists a winning start is a must to launch a new era in style.
He said: “Not only is it going to be a cracking way to start the season, it is also going to be a very difficult meeting.
“Alun has picked a side featuring plenty of riders who are capable of going well around our track.
“But we need to ensure we hit the ground running and get into the habit of winning speedway meetings.
“The lads are well aware of our expectations of them and I’m confident we challenge for every available trophy.
“There is already a great spirit among the riders and they all looked in good nick out on track at Press & Practice Day (March 12).”
Panthers are at full-strength for the curtain-raiser with Simon Lambert racing for the city club rather than his Elite League side, Leicester, who also start their season on Sunday.
There has been a late change to the GB Select team with former Panthers favourite Richard Lawson accepting a late call-up after Ben Barker pulled out.
Panthers: Olly Allen, Adam Roynon, Robert Lambert, Lewis Blackbird, Ulrich Ostergaard, Simon Lambert, Ollie Greenwood.
GB Select: Richard Lawson, Adam Ellis, Lewis Kerr, Kyle Howarth, Richie Worrall, Nathan Greaves, Lewis Rose.
