New Posh goalkeeper Bobby Olejnik was so excited about his move to Posh he couldn’t sleep.
The 25 year-old signed a three-year contract at London Road today (Monday) after transfer talks with Posh manager Darren Ferguson. Posh agreed a fee believed to be in the region of £300,000 for Olejnik with his former club Torquay last week.
Olejnik said: “I couldn’t sleep last night as I was so excited about the move. I just wanted to get up here and sign for the club.
“I met with the manager who outlined everything from the club’s vision for the future to the way he likes his team to play. He was very impressive and it was an easy decision for me to sign the contract.
“I left Falkirk a year ago and if anyone had said I would end up playing in the Championship so soon I’d have laughed in their face. It’s a dream move for me and I can’t wait to get started.”
Ferguson was delighted with his fourth capture of the summer after midfielder Danny Swanson, centre-back Nat Knight-Percival and an unnamed 18 year-old striker.
Ferguson said: “Bobby had a great season with Torquay and was easily the best goalkeeper in League Two. I spoke to people in Scotland about him and they all had only good things to say.
“There is improvement in him, but he has a good attitude and is willing to learn which is important.”
Olejnik kept a club record 20 clean sheets for Torquay last season and was named in the League Two team of the year as selected by his fellow professionals.
