Peterborough United have appointed former Nottingham Forest striker Lee Glover as assistant manager to new boss Grant McCann.

Glover (46) spent last season as professional development coach at League One rivals Coventry City. He’d previously occupied a similar role at Derby County.

McCann worked with Glover on his Pro Licence coach8ing course and believes his experience of working with younger players will benefit the squad at the ABAX Stadium.

McCann said: “He brings great experience to a young dressing room. He has worked under a number of excellent managers in the past including Steve McLaren, Nigel Clough and Tony Mowbray.

“I am confident he will get the best out of the players. It was really important to get this appointment right. I spoke to one or two other people, but when I spoke to Lee, I understood straight away how keen he was to join us.”

Glover made over 400 appearances for 11 different clubs in a 15 year-playing career after starting at Forest. Port Vale and Rotherham were among the clubs he played for permanently.

He has managed both Corby and Grantham.

Ben MacKenzie has returned to the club as head of sport science.
