Peterborough United centre-back Gaby Zakuani started as DR Congo beat Congo 4-2 in an African Cup of Nations quarter-final today (January 31).
Zakuani played for 50 minutes before limping off with an injury. Zakuani was bumped by the medical cart as he was waiting to be carried off the pitch on a stretcher. Fortunately he didn’t suffer any extra damage.
It was 0-0 at the time, but DR Congo had to come back from 2-0 down after an hour to win a semi-final place against either Ivory Coast or Algeria who play their quarter-final tomorrow (February 1)
DR Congo’s semi-final will take place om Wednesday (February 4, 7pm).
