Peterborough United are ball number eight in the FA Cup fourth round draw which takes place tonight (January 11) live on BBC One, during ‘The One Show’ (from 7pm).
Posh have reached this stage for the first time since the 2007-8 season under the management of Darren Ferguson. That season Posh beat Wrexham 4-1 and Staines Town 5-0 before winning 3-1 at Championship club Colchester in the first three rounds of the competition.
Colchester included Teddy Sheringham in their line-up that day, but goals from Aaron Mclean, George Boyd and Charlie Lee won the game for Posh.
Posh were then drawn at home to Championship title contenders West Brom in the fourth round and were beaten 3-0.
Craig Mackail-Smith was the top scorer in the FA Cup that season with seven goals. He scored them all in the first two ties! Posh went onto win promotion from League Two at the end of that season.
Posh haven’t reached the fifth round of the FA Cup since the 1985-86 campaign when John Wile’s struggling Fourth Division side took Second Division Brighton to a replay before losing 1-0 at the Goldstone Ground to a late Dean Saunders goal.
Key numbers in tonight’s FA Cup draw.
