Erhun Oztumer will skipper Peterborough United in their opening friendly of the season at non-league side Dulwich Hamlet tonight (July 8. 7.45pm kick off).
Oztumer is returning to the club who sold him to Posh 15 months ago. Tonight’s match at the Champion Hill Stadium is part of that transfer deal.
Posh manager Dave Robertson will field most of his first-team squad this evening. One set of players will have an hour on the pitch with another set seeing 30 minutes of action.
The club have yet to confirm whether or not the Real Madrid winger currently on trial at Posh will take part.
Robertson said: “We’re really excited to be back playing matches. The players have been in fine form since they returned for pre-season training.
“The players are all keen to show what they can do. We want to win the game, but that’s not the only important thing in friendly matches.
“We want to check on the characters of the players and how they perform and react in certain situations.
“It should be a fantastic night for Erhun which is why I’ve asked him to lead the side out. He is sure to get a great reception from the Dulwich fans and he can show them how much he’s progressed since joining us.”
Admission to the game costs £10 for adults, £4 for seniors over 60 and under 18s with under 3s admitted free of charge.
Dulwich play in the Ryman League Premier Division. They missed out on promotion in the play-offs last season.
