POSH TRANSFER TALK: More Peterborough United players might follow Conor out of the door

Striker Washington completed a £2.5 million switch to Championship club QPR on Tuesday (January 19).

And Posh manager Graham Westley has confirmed more of his players are attracting interest from clubs in the top two divisions in England.

Irish midfielder Chris Forrester is understood to be a target for Reading, while attacking midfielder Marcus Maddison has been watched by Championship clubs Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday.

And Premier League Bournemouth have a long-standing interest in Posh central defender Jack Baldwin, who has made an outstanding return from long-term injury.

Westley remains calm even though his promotion-chasing squad is threatened with further departures.

Westley said: “Lots of big clubs are watching our players right now.

“And everyone knows that we won’t stand in anyone’s way if the deal is good for our club and for the player.

“If the likes of Jack Baldwin and Chris Forrester keep playing as they have been and keep developing they are bound to be of interest.

“That’s the nature of the business, but we planned and prepared for possible sales.

“Of course some people will express concern over the sale of the club’s top scorer, but this club has been in this position before, even this season

“We coped when we lost Jermaine Anderson to injury when he was at the top of his game and ready to make a big-money move.

“We also coped with the loss of Callum Elder, Michael Bostwick and Gaby Zakuani to injury.”

A £3 million price tag was placed on Forrester by chairman Darragh MacAnthony earlier this month.

Maddison and Baldwin would cost a little less. The former has struggled to break into the Posh starting line-up in recent games, while the latter is only three games into his recovery from a 14-month absence through injury.
