POSH TRANSFER TALK: Luke James could be heading back to League Two

League One rivals Bradford City are happy to terminate James’ season-long loan deal from the ABAX Stadium and allow the 21 year-old to find another club.

Two League Two clubs are keen to take James on loan. One is believed to be his former club Hartlepool United.

Hartlepool manager Ronnie Moore is believed to be talking about James when he told the Hartlepool Mail this morning (January 25): “We thought we had a signing done and dusted on Thursday (January 21). It’s unbelievable it broke down – you think you have someone then you haven’t.

“The chairman has done everything we’ve asked - he’s given us full backing on trying to get people in.

“But you can’t be held to ransom, when you are being asked to give more money than the deal which had been agreed.

“I hope it does not fail because it will be a nice little move for us. I think one or two people may have guessed, but I’m not saying who it is.

“It still seemed on, on Friday, but then it went backwards from there, as the club we were dealing with started hinting they wanted more money.

“We’ll have another try but, like I say, we won’t be held to ransom.

“If we can’t do this deal then we’ll move on somewhere else.”

James left Hartlepool for Posh in August 2014 in a transfer reported to be £500,000.

James went on strike to secure the move, but he managed just two goals in 34 appearances (21 starts) for Posh last season, one on his debut.

He failed to score in 14 appearances for Bradford City. He started just four matches.

Bradford have paid Posh a loan fee for James so will want to claw some of that money back.

City manager Phil Parkinson said: “A couple of clubs are trying to do a deal between ourselves and Posh, but it hasn’t fallen into place yet.”
