HOW THEY RATED

Ben Alnwick: Big Ben can’t be faulted for the result. Saved well when called into action after just two minutes and could do nothing about the two goals. Also commanded his area well from corners. 7

Michael Smith: A superb strike for the goal from the man who last scored in October 2014 but should have stopped the cross coming in for Rochdale’s first goal. 6

Michael Bostwick: Coped quite well throughout the afternoon and made a good block on the line in the build-up to the second goal. However, he was part of a defensive unit that was less than convincing. 6

Jack Baldwin: Looked unsure at times and found Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Joe Bunney a handful to deal with. 6

Andrew Fox: One of his better performances in a Posh shirt. Offered support to the midfield but will have to improve in order to hold onto the position come August. 6

Jon Taylor: Didn’t offer the consistent threat that we are used to seeing but forced Josh Lillis into a good double save early on. 5

Marcus Maddison: A few moments of flair but found the Rochdale defence a tough nut to crack and was not helped out by a poor referee. 5

Harry Beautyman: Another usual display from Harry. Plenty of work and nearly broke through the Rochdale backline on a couple of occasions and was one of the few players who did force Lillis into a save. 6

Chris Forrester: Although he didn’t reach the heights we know that he is capable of, he was still the glue in the Posh midfield. Forced Lillis into a good save from distance in the second half. 7

Tom Nichols: There was no lack of effort from the former Exeter striker and he offered lots of movement but gave Posh no cutting edge. 6

Lee Angol: Struggled to make any real impact on the game and never looked like scoring. 5

Erhun Oztumer: (for Taylor 63 minutes) Had little impact on the game and lost the ball when in a good position on the edge of the Rochdale box in the second half. 5

Martin Samuelsen: (for Beautyman 63 minutes) Like Oztumer failed to create any chances and Posh looked less threatening after the two substitutions. 5

Shaquile Coulthirst: (for Fox 79 minutes) Tried to get on the ball but was never given the chance to breach through the Rochdale backline. 5
