POSH LATEST: Forrester happy to be put on the spot again

Forrester’s 97th-minute penalty was easily saved by Southend ‘keeper Dan Bentley to deny Posh a vital victory in their battle for promotion from League One.

The 23-year-old Irishman won an internal competition during training for the right to take penalties in the absence of Michael Bostwick.

“I wouldn’t mind, but I’d been whacking them in all week,” Forrester told the Irish Independant newspaper after the game “But I’ll get over it. If we got a penalty next week, I’d step up again. This is just a minor blip.”

Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony has put a £3 million price tag on Forrester who only joined Posh from Irish League side St Patrick’s Athletic in September.

The pressure might be off Forrester next Saturday (January 23) as Bostwick could return from injury for the key game at third-placed Gillingham.

Posh will find out their fourth round FA Cup opponents tomorrow (January 19) when Championship strugglers Bristol City and Premier League side West Brom contest a third round replay at Ashton Gate.

Posh will be away in the fourth round on Saturday, January 30. It will be their first fourth round appearance since 2008. They haven’t reached the fifth round aince 1986.
