The ranting chairman accused everyone at the club of working at an ‘average’ level during a ‘complete failure of a season’ but reassured fans drastic action will be taken to prepare the club ready for a title challenge next season.

MacAnthony said: “Nobody is safe in the football club from the top of the tree to the bottom and I mean that.

“Every single member of staff who works at the football club needs to show they mean business for next season and if they don’t then they are gone.”

Posh have endured a torrid second half of the season winning only three of their last 12 league games which has made the chairman a ‘very angry man’.

He said: “The past few months have been well and truly awful. The capitulation since January has been horrible for both me and our fans and I am a very angry man.

“It is nowhere near good enough considering the money I put into the club and people are going to see the repercussions of that in the coming months.”

The 40-year-old entrepreneur also tore into the club’s recent transfer activity and admitted that his spineless Posh side are in desperate need of a leader.

“We could have signed anyone we wanted in January but we got it wrong. We signed Premier League youngsters but it hasn’t worked out.

“We also need a captain and a leader in the side next year. Someone who will stand up and be counted and not keep whining. We need a midfield winner as well - someone like McCann or Keates.

“We are probably going to bring in about three or four players during the summer and I still believe some of our recent signings do have unbelievable talent.

“We aso need to sort out our injury issues. I’m sick of players being injured.

“And experienced men in the squad have not performed. They need to move on.”

MacAnthony said he understood why there had been a dramatic fall in attendances - the average is now 5,438.

He added: “You have to listen to the supporters and they are voting with their feet. People aren’t happy and I understand that.

“But I will pick apart everything from top to bottom in the next five games. I am employing people who are going about their jobs in an average way which is not good enough and we need to get back to a winning level.

“Winners are coming into the football club in the summer so we can have a good shot at the title.”
