PLAYER VERDICTS: Assist-king Maddison was the difference between the sides
Marcus Maddison added three more assists to his formidable tally as Peterborough United claimed a stunning 3-2 victory at Fleetwood today (December 17).
Maddison was the difference between two evenly-matched sides and his efforts helped paper over the cracks in the Posh defence.
Jonathan Bond: There was some ropey defending on show, but not by him. He looked in control and unlucky with the second Fleetwood goal as he made a good save before the rebound was volleyed home 6.5
Alex Penny: He enjoyed some good moments, but there are other times when he looks raw and vulnerable. He played an indvertent part in both Fleetwood goals by losing possession before the first Fleetwood goal and then diving in unnecessarily ahead of the second 5.5
Andrew Hughes: Rock solid for the most part. Took no chances defensively unlike his team-mates 6.5
Ryan Tafazolli: Started shakily and never really recovered. Poor clearance for the opening goal lost more aerial battles than normal 5
Steven Taylor: Made a couple of unusual errors in the first-half as the gusty wind played havoc with the Posh back four. He battled away, but one of his less convincing performances 5
Anthony Grant: Excellent effort, but I fear he is having to work too hard to cover for other midfielders. Inspirational skipper 7.5
Michael Doughty: Anonymous first half, but a well-timed run into the penalty area to score his second goal in two games gave him a spark 6
Leo Da Silva Lopes: Struggled to get into the game and substituted after an hour. One positive run in the first half led to a dangerous set piece opportunity 5
Gwion Edwards: Barely touched the ball before limping off in the eighth minute
Marcus Maddison: Long spells of inacitivity, but one wonderful cross, one stunning pass and a well struck free kick led to the three Posh goals. The key man in this squad by a country mile 8
Jack Marriott: Poorly served, but never stopped running and his goal was superbly created and brilliantly taken 7
Danny Lloyd: (for Edwards, 8 mins). A bundle of energy, might have won two penalties, definitely should have won one, and rewarded for his industry with a late winning goal 7.5
Jermaine Anderson: (for Da Silva Lopes, 60 mins).
Ricky Miller: (for Tafazolli, 84 mins).
Idris Kanu: (not used).
Chris Forrester: (not used).
Jack Baldwin: (not used).
Conor O’Malley: (not used).
