Posh fought back twice to gain a creditable 2-2 draw at Sunderland and maintain second place in the table.

Half-time replacement Joe Ward and Ivan Toney scored the Posh goals and were probably the best two players on the night.

Ratings Key: 10: Perfect, 9: Outstanding. 8: Very good. 7 Good. 6=average. 5=Poor. 4=Stinker

Aaron Chapman: There seemed to be some poor communicating going on with his defenders and there was no command of his area. Beaten by two good finishes though 5.5

Jason Naismith: Posh were more secure down his side of the defence and for the third game in a row he was denied a goal by a fine save 6.5

Colin Daniel: Started the game okay given he was playing against two men for most of it, but mistakes started to creep in and he was beaten too easily for the cross that led to the second Sunderland goal 5

Rhys Bennett: Cleared his lines well and was particularly strong in the second-half 7

Ryan Tafazolli: Not at his most commanding. Sunderland played patient passing football without slinging too many high balls in the big centre-back’s direction. Gave his man too much room for the first Sunderland goal 6.5

Alex Woodyard: His usual high levels of workrate and application. Caught in possession in bad areas on a couple of occasions, but generally solid 7

Mark O’Hara: Put a great shift in without causing Sunderland too many problems going forward, although one fine flick almost led to a goal for Godden 7

Callum Cooke: Found it hard going in a formation that didn’t suit Posh at all. Substituted at half-time 5.5

Siriki Dembele: Way off his game in his 45 minutes on the pitch. Played behind the front two and didn’t get to grips with the role 5

Ivan Toney: An impressive display of battling was rewarded by a splendid late goal. He’s hard to contain when he’s on his game 8

Jason Cummings: Not at his sharpest despite running hard until taken off late on 6
