Positive Covid tests for Lincoln City ahead of big game with Peterborough United

Lincoln City have recorded several positive Covid tests among their first-team squad ahead of tomorrow’s (January 9) League One clash with Peterborough United at Sincil Bank, but the game is still set to go on.

Following a mandatory round of testing across the EFL earlier this week, several members of the Imps’ camp returned positive tests and are self-isolating.

“We’re going to be missing quite a few staff and players,” Imps boss Michael Appleton, who will be back in the dugout against Posh after his own brush with the virus, told Lincolnshire Live.

“The club have asked me not to mention any names because of privacy issues, but the club are going to put out a statement.

“If we’d got one or two more [positive tests], it [the game] would have probably been in doubt.

Appleton and goalkeeping coach Steve Croudson tested positive last week and missed Saturday’s 2-1 win at AFC Wimbledon, while former Posh player Harry Anderson was placed into self-isolation as a precaution after feeling unwell ahead of the game.
