FootballGroundMap.com compiled an overall rating of each ground based on a poll among hundreds of fans, presumably none of whom were present when MK Dons visited London Road for a League One play-off semi-final in 2011 or the two seasons in the Championship that followed, or the games against Rotherham, Coventry, Sunderland and Ipswich this season.
I have decided to right this obvious wrong and deliver my own verdict based on my own experiences at every League One ground.
Let me know what you think.
1.
23rd FLEETWOOD TOWN. Top people work at this club and maybe my opinion is affected by the horrible weather conditions on the North West coast. It's hard to generate an atmosphere in a storm. Photo: Midlands
2.
22nd OXFORD UNITED. A three-sided stadium starts with an obvious disadvantage when judging an atmosphere. A car park behind one goal instead of away fans for so long is rather sad, even for a talented home team.
3.
21st GILLINGHAM. Opposition fans check the date they're due to travel to Priestfield. If it's not in August heavy duty waterproofs must be packed. An open-air stand does the atmosphere no favours even when it is sunny though.
4.
20th: ACCRINGTON STANLEY. An enjoyable place to visit, but when you can hear the players talking to each other it speaks volumes for a lack of crowd involvement. Small crowds don't help obviously.
