If a points-per-game average is used to determine final league placings Posh will miss out on the play-off places by one point.
Every team will have hard luck and missed opportunity stories from the season, but here are the ones Posh will be regretting if events conspire against them and no mo.
1.
Posh played very well for most of the game at Wycombe in October, but threw away a 2-0 lead and a 3-2 lead (against 10 men) before settling for a 3-3 draw. Wycombe’s last minute equaliser arrived following a very questionable penalty award as well. Photo: Midlands

Siriki Dembele was sent on to win the game at Lincoln on January 1, but was instead sent off within minutes of his entry onto the pitch which enabled the hosts to go on and claim an undeserved last-minute winning goal. Photo: Midlands

Ivan Toney, by his own high standards, missed a sitter in the 94th minute of a 0-0 draw with Gillingham at the Weston Homes Stadium in January. Posh didn't deserve to win that game, but in they end they should have done. Photo: Midlands

Ivan Toney picked up unnecessary yellow cards in back-to-back 4-0 home wins over Oxford and Southend in February. Posh picked up one point from the two games he missed through suspension. Photo: Midlands
