“The EFL clubs in the Championship, League One and League Two are talking in a daily basis,” Fry stated. “And from what we are hearing and listening to I’d say 80-85% want the season to finish.

“They don’t want to void the season and they don’t want to use points-per-game to decide final League positions. They want to play the fixtures as soon as it’s safe to do so.

“This other talk is coming from a handful of clubs whose season has been a failure. They are in danger of going down and they will try anything to avoid it.

“Our chairman has made our case very strongly and very passionately. We are very lucky to have him someone prepared to speak his mind in public.

“We don’t always agree with him, but at least we know where we stand with him. I would imagine 90% of clubs at our level would love to have him.

“We think a points per game average to decide league positions is unfair as we have five games left at home against teams currently in the bottom half of the table, although the formula used by the rugby people is a lot fairer.”

Earlier today (Aptil 24) the PT published how the League One table would look if a points per game average used by the English Rugby Union to determine their final league tables was used in football.

Their formula tok into account home and away form.
