Peterborough United will keep the identity of their striker target top secret
Posh are keen not to alert other clubs who they have in mind.
“When other clubs know we are interested in a player, they become interested as well because our recruitment has been so strong over the years,” Posh co-owner Darragh MacAnthony said on his popular ‘Hard Truths’ podcast. “So we won’t be saying who we are after.”

Hide AdPosh completed the signing of goalkeeper Dan Gyollai on Thursday (July 30) and now a central midfield player for the 2020-21 season is a priority, along with a replacement for Tiney.
“We don’t need a lot,” MacAnthony added. “We look strong in defence and in the wing-back positions, in Jack Taylor we have someone who could become the best central midfielder in League One next season, we have good options at number 10 with George Cooper, Serhat Tasdemir, George Boyd and Flynn Clarke and up front we have Siriki Dembele, young Ricky-Jade Jones and Mo Eisa. Mo was one of the highest scorers in League One last season despite not starting many games.”
Toney didn’t feature in yesterday’s opening friendly of the season, a 1-0 win at Stamford (August 1).
