The fixtures for the 2020/21 campaign were released at 9am on Friday morning, and Posh will be on the road first up, before their opening home game against Fleetwood Town on September 19.

In what looks a trick start, Darren Ferguson's men then go to the Stadium Of Light to take on Sunderland on September 26.

The campaign has been branded a 'Vengeance Tour' by chairman Darragh MacAnthony, following the controversial decision to call a halt to last season early due to the Covid-19 pandemic, denying Posh the chance of promotion.

As it stands, the first rounds of matches are to be played behind closed doors with no date set for the return of supporters, which could be a blow for Posh travelling fans as the first derby date of the season is on October 10 when Posh go to Northampton Town, a week before Oxford United are due at the Weston Homes Stadium.

The Cobblers will make the return trip to London Road on Saturday, April 17, 2021.

The Christmas fixtures have been pretty kind, with Posh entertaining Ipswich Town on December 19, before going to Steve Evans' Gillingham on Boxing Day.

Charlton head to Peterborough on December 29, and there is another home game for Ferguson's team on Saturday, January 2.

There is a quickfire double against old rivals MK Dons to look forward to, with Posh going to Stadium MK on Tuesday, December 15, before hosting Russell Martin's outfit on Saturday, January 16.

Other key dates at the Weston Homes Stadium, see relegated pair Wigan Athletic and Hull City in the city on February 27 and March 9 respectively, while Sunderland visit London Road on the Easter Bank Holiday Monday, April 5.

Posh will resume their rivalry with Portsmouth on Saturday, December 5 when they go to Fratton Park, with Pompey making the return trip on Saturday, March 13.
