That’s the schedule facing the midfield ace and his teammates starting with the visit of MK Dons to the Weston Homes Stadium for a League One fixture tomorrow (January 16, 3pm). Posh will probably need to play much better than they did in the 1-1 draw at stadium:mk last month.

The 5-1 Papa John’s Trophy win over Portsmouth this week now means Posh face eight consecutive Tuesday fixtures starting with a home League One game with Charlton next week (January 19).

Taylor, who is in the running for the player of the round in the Trophy, opened the scoring in the big win over Portsmouth.

It was his sixth goal of the season.

“I’d much rather be playing on a Tuesday than facing a week of training,” Taylor said. “The break we had was tough and it took some getting used to playing again at Lincoln last weekend, but it’s great to be back even though we face some tough games now.

“The league is tight, but we just need to look after our own form and results and not worry about what anyone else is doing.

“We will need to play better against MK tomorrow thane we did at their place. We need to press better and we need to keep the ball better. If we let tham have the ball they will be dangerous as they have some good players.

“We know their dangers though and we will try and stop them while causing them problems.

“The manager has been at us to create more chances and score more goals so it was good to see some of the patterns we’ve been working on coming good against Portsmouth.

“We knew they weren’t going to be fielding their strongest side, but we still had a job to do and we did it well in the end.

“Our home is form is going to be so important and we have all the top side still to play at our place. Conditions will probably be tough especially if it’s wet, but we’ll just get on with it,”

Taylor is a certainty to be selected tomorrow, but his central midfield partner much harder to predict. Reece Brown, Ethan Hamilton and Louis Reed have all played alongside Taylor this season.

“I enjoy playing with them all,” Taylor said. “They all have different strengths and they are all capable of scoring goals.

“I’m just concerned about holding my own form so I can keep my place in the side.”
