Peterborough United sell a 13 year-old to the Premier League for £150k and half of the club cost the Canada-based club owners at least £10 million

Peterborough United recently received a fee of £150k from a Premier League club for a 13 year-old goalkeeper.

The unnamed teenager had excelled at the Posh Academy.

“We would have received more money if we had been a category 2 Academy,” Posh co-owner Darragh MacAnthony revealed. “But less money if we’d gone to a tribunal.

“The fact we have recently moved closer to category 2 Academy status is massive for us.”

In another Darragh deal, he revealed he received an eight-figure fee for selling half of the club to Canada-based businessmen Dr Jason Neale and Randy ‘Stewart’ Thompson.

The deal was completed in March, 2018.

MacAnthony said: “Not many people thought I could get an eight-figure fee for half of the club, but I did.

“We have £20 million of assets and no debts apart from to the owners.”
