Posh co-owner Darragh MacAnthony, on his ‘Hard Truth’ podcast, revealed a refund is one of several options season ticket holders will be given as compensation for not being able to attend matches in person so far this season.

Seson ticket holders have been able to watch home games live on the erratic iFollow service for no extra charge, but that’s a service MacAnthony would happily ‘dump in a bin tomorrow,’ if he could. There were more iFollow issues during yesterday’s 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Blackpool.

There is a suggestion up to 1000 fans would be allowed into grounds when the latest lockdown period ends on December 2.

There is also a suggestion the Premier League and EFL are close to agreeing a £50 million bailout package for lower league clubs.

MacAnthony revealed earlier this week Posh had made just £30K from iFollow in 12 matches.

“I don’t want to sound greedy, but £1 million each for the clubs isn’t enough,” MacAnthony said. “The Government need to give us £1 million each as well. They effectively stopped us trading by not allowing fans in and they need to compensate us.

“The Government points to the Premier League spending a billion pounds in the summer. Well that’s the Premier League not the EFL.

“We’ve lost enough money so I dread to think what Sunderland have lost given they can get 30,000 at home matches.

“We are about to offer a range of options to season ticket holders including refunds which is tough for us.

“I’d dump iFollow in the bin tomorrow if I could. It goes down for me as well as the fans.”
