Peterborough United season ticket holders can have a refund, but if they do they won’t be in the ballot for matchday admission during the city’s stay in tier two

Peterborough United season ticket holders for the 2020-21 season have been given the option of a pro-rata refund, or a four-year prize freeze as compensation for missing out on live action at the Weston Homes Stadium.

Season ticket holders will also be given to option of again donating their refund entitlement to the club’s Academy. Many took up this option last season as the final five home games of the season were not played.

But fans who opt for a pro-rata refund will not be included in forthcoming ballots for admission while the Posh stadium capacity is limited to 2,000 supporters per game. They will also have to start paying for the iFollow service.

No details re admission to the Weston Homes Stadium for the Papa John’s Trophy tie against West Ham United on Tuesday, December 8 have been released.

The club are asking season ticket holders to e-mail the club, through the link in their e-mail, with their preferred option by midnight on Sunday, December 6 to ensure your wishes are fulfilled and you get into the matchday ticket ballot.

The options for season ticket holders are...

NB: The club are considering adding point 4 from option two into option one as well.

1) Donate your pro-rata refund to the Academy. This includes the seven league games up until the return of fans to our stadium, plus any future games missed this season while the club are subject to capacity restrictions in tier 2 or 3.

2) Your name on the wall of our Category 2 status dome scheduled for completion in 2021.

3) Priority access to the ballot for home games dependent on UK Government policy. In Tier 1 this means all season ticket holders will get into Weston Homes Stadium, in Tier 2 means 2,000 on a rotating basis via a ballot, and Tier 3 means that no fans are in the stadium

4) Ten tickets to Youth Cup games at the Weston Homes stadium or U16/U18 academy games when attendance is safe

5) Attendance to home pre-season friendlies (where our academy players traditionally feature) for pre-season 21/22 and 22/23, subject to safe conditions

6) Keep club cash for Fleetwood game (already awarded)

7) iFollow access for the remainder of the season or until stadium capacities return to normal.

OPTION 2

1) Four-year price freeze on your season ticket (20/21 price at relevant age category) if we remain in League One and two years if we are successfully promoted to the Championship. Based on only a 5% increase per season, it represents savings of around £230 (on a season ticket at £439). If the club spent two years in League One and two years in the Championship the saving could be over £300.

2) Donate your pro-rata refund to the club. This includes the seven league games up until the return of fans to our stadium, plus any future games missed this season while the club are subject to capacity restrictions in tier 2 or 3.

OPTION 3

2) Fleetwood club cash revoked

3) Refund is either cash or club cash (your choice) and the club will pay this in instalments over the next 90 days starting in December and continue thereafter if attendance remains limited to 2,000

4) iFollow access will have to be purchased and is not included in this option

5) Participation in the ballot whilst the club remains in Tier 2 will not be facilitated. Attendance will be prioritised to fans that select Option 1 and 2.

The options were sent out to season ticket holders today along with a statement from co-owners Darragh MacAnthony, Dr Jason Neale and Stewart ‘Randy’ Thompson which read: ‘Again, thank you for your patience through this incredibly challenging year. We will continue to say thank you for everything you’ve done for the club to this point. We have made it through the season shutdown and the loss of our play-off run, the lack of support for the industry from Government, the EFL, or the players union, and we have endured a season of silence at the Weston Homes Stadium together. And we are only in the middle of it.
